Debt Validation Letter Question.

Hello's all..

I'm trying to clear up my credit report & here is a question.

I'm in the process of writting a Debt Validation letter to my creditors. However when i view my credit Report i see the original Creditor. When i call the Creditor they inform me they no longer own the loan, & say it is onwed by a collection agency who does not appear on my Credit report.

To whom should i write my Debt Validation letter to, The original Creditor listed on my credit report, or the Collector who has not contacted me yet?(To the best of knowledge).

many thanks.

Blue.

The CB is reportig the account as closed, & the Status as Collection/Chargeoff. Remarks Collection Account Placed for Collection.

As to whether they told me when they charged off my account & what CA owns the debt, they may have told me this as this is an old debt. I do not remember though. The SOL is not yet about over..i live in a state where the SOL is 10yrs.

In this instance to whom should i write my Debt validation letter too? Should i write it to the Original Creditor, or the New one (The CA) who is not reporting to my Credit Report.

Again many thanks.

You want to dispute the item to the CRA it appears on per the FCRA. You cold also dispute to the OC, but you may want to start with the CRA, with a " not mine" or "paid before collection" reason, something to get them to act on it.

Send it certified mail, wait 35 days after they get it, then, if they do not respond, ask it be deleted as unverifiable/inaccurate.

Save the SV letter for the CA if and when they try to contact you.
