myricksw
What date is used for the 7 year clock for Med Bills that are sent to collection. Shouldn't the clock start somewhere around 180 days after the 1st missed payment. I have a medical bill from 2001 that was just sent to collections. If they end up reporting to CRA, does the 7 year clock start from there. I have not been able to find anything that specifies medical bills on the board. If there is a string somewhere that would answer my questions or if anyone has any info, I would greatly appreciate it.What category would med. bills fall when it comes to SOL and when does it start.I ask this exact question a couple of months ago and got zero replies. Please help.
retmar
A Medical collection is considered an "Open Account".The SOL for the OC being able to sue you is XX (check your State's laws for exact) yrs from date of last activity, or date of last payment.I've heard different on this one. Myself, I had some that were deleted after 7 yrs exactly from DOLA, while another went beyond to the 180. Most were deleted at 6 yrs 9 mths. This is based on a copy of a tri-merge we had from 1999 and the ones we received when I started our repair near the end of 2002.
