CLM
This may sound like a stupid question with an obvious answer. But, I figured I'd ask the experts anyway. If a collection agency calls, do I have to verify any information (i.e. address - daytime and evening phone- etc.)? Or is it up to the CA to obtain the info from the OC? c m chase
You don't have to tell them anything...unless it's under court order, of course. And, actually, if you have collectors calling, send them a letter telling them you no longer want them to call your home or place of business - that you will only accept communication in writing. Make sure to send it certified so you have the proof. In that letter, include your DV letter. That's always your first step with collectors. Get that out there. WHen you get your green card back from the post office, dispute with the CRAs if it's on your reports. It's all about leverage....getting them to break the law is how you get it. And they will almost ALWAYS break the law.Good luck!
