willingtocope
Just because you paid it, you did not waive your right to have it validated, nor did you acknowledge it was yours (unless you said something affirmative that they recorded). All you've really done is fall for their pressure tactics.Although there may be a time period past which you can no longer disputer (years, not the 30 day thing) you can still send them a letter that says, in effect, "I paid this but upon further review I'm not sure it was mine so I'd like proof that you had the right person, the right amount, and the right to collect in my state".If they don't respond, then you might have grounds for a small claims suit. If they are reporting anything on you CRs, you might also have grounds to have it removed.Good luck!
