Cap One pulled all three CRA's....

Recommended Posts

They seem to start off everybody with a low credit limit. My dad gets offers from them for up to 2000 credit limit and his scores are in the 800's with little debt.

They seem to test the waters and see how someone will do before they give a worthwhile credit limit.

They always seem to pull all 3 reports. It's there way of really keeping tabs on someone.

There are 2 glaring problems with Crap 1;

1 - They will NOT report your ACTUAL credit limit so your high balance is always the same as your CL - and your utilitzation goes thru the roof because it looks like you're always maxed out.

2- Crap1 RARELY gives credit limit increases. If you find out you've got a whopping $250 limit, that's likely ALL you're ever going to get. They do no respond to begging or good will either.

I'm just going to use it for emergencies until the 0% is done! Than I'll age it with no activity until I hit 750 or so FICO. That should help! I should have my car paid off within a year and a half and all revolving debt paid. So it will help if I need something but don'y get paid for a week and can pay for it and get no interest charged to me. I'll actually just use it as a credit crad not a credit builder! :lol:

One trick I learned about the Cap 1 card (and only do this if you can afford it, obviously), is to max the thing out the first month you get it, then pay it in full, and then use it normally. Your scores will take an absolute nosedive that first month, but from that point on from here till eternity, it will at least show your high balance as your limit.

And if you really wanna work their unscrupulous system, and don't mind paying a little extra in fees...go OVER on the thing by a few hundred bucks (You obviously have to be pretty quick with this, as their computers refresh the balance available pretty fast). Pushes your "limit" on the CR up even more.

Xan... Thanks for the idea but I think I'm just gonna tru not to use it at all and only if I need to as an emergencie than pay it off! Truthfully I really want to use cash for allot these days! Ironic isn't it! I want to NOT use my CC's that I've been working 2 years to get! Soooo weird! I hate paying that bill every month! Thanks though..

Edubb :twisted:
