Guest jeeptravel
The thing is that there is really nothing a company can do.No companies are good. There used to be one called Junnum that some people said was sucessful in impoving credit.I recommend www.nolo.com It's a great legal site for resources. What types of negs do you have on your report? You may hire me (Just kidding to make a point)jt

Guest jeeptravel
MODERATOR ALERT!!!!!sl dillard. Your guy doesn't advertise because he is breaking the law with an up front fee. Here is the law from the FTC site about credit repair agents:"The Credit Repair Organizations ActBy law, credit repair organizations must give you a copy of the "Consumer Credit File Rights Under State and Federal Law" before you sign a contract. They also must give you a written contract that spells out your rights and obligations. Read these documents before signing the contract. The law contains specific protections for you. For example, a credit repair company cannot:make false claims about their services; charge you until they have completed the promised services; or perform any services until they have your signature on a written contract and have completed a three-day waiting period. During this time, you can cancel the contract without paying any fees."Source: FTC websitehttp://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/repair.htmYou might want to remove his info from this very PRO FTC FCRA and actively litigious site. Just a suggestion. jt
harlock
sldillard, you should have PM'd instead.
Guest jeeptravel
Thanks harlock. I've already let the moderators know. I hope they will come online soon and delete that "advertisement."PMs only rip off one person, and then its "word of mouth." This forum is all about exposing what a rip off all those companies are.If you can you write a letter, you can repair your credit.jt

ADSOFT
There is none, you have to do it yourself. Most will get you into more trouble.
willingtocope
It occurs to me that debt repair / consultation companies are now just another form of collector. Most have contracts with specific lenders or credit card companies that allow them to "negotiate" lower interest rates and / or settlement amounts. You see evidence of this in the fact that some CCs cooperate with different repair companies, but won't work with others. The whole process only works if ALL creditors participate, and even then may wind up as a negative on your Credit Reports. And, this is all done under the disguise of helping out the consumer, when in effect, they've got the consumer paying for the service instead of the CC paying a more traditional collector. SHEPER
Trust me this site works best , if you want credit you should learn how to keep it instead of someone else doing it for you . respect your self and others will follow . I just call my bank tell them what i want how i want it on a six month note or payments . Two years ago my credit score was less than four hundred had tax liens and collections , used information from this site only now have 700+ score at three credit compaines . workinninetofive
They are right, you will get what you need from doing it YOURSELF.. you have your best interest in mind. So, you are the best one to keep track of your reports. YOU will get satisfaction from knowing you did it, but most of all YOU will hopefully break bad habits and learn good ones. Also, I have heard terrible things about these companies.. one girl told me that they managed to get nothing negative deleted and a few positive deleted. Now, do you really want someone else in your credit file?? Good luck
UnrulyJulie
Thanks for these reinforcements of advice against the use of companies. I am a newbie also who is about to embark on the monstrosity of cleaning up my credit disaster. I hired a company called Lexington Law last night but since called and canceled today upon the urging of another member as well as another friend of mine. As scary as it seems now, I am putting faith in myself that I can get the job done and learn some valuable lessons along the way. Julie
