UnrulyJulie
Please bear with me, I'm a newbie! I just checked my PG activity and it shows that Capital One ($1888) and Diner's Corp ($11,930), 2 old CC accounts that have been charged off two years ago, are continuing to report the debts every month - the last "balance date" being 10/04. They have stopped calling long ago to try and collect on the debts, but now that I am trying to repair my credit, what should be my next step in dealing with this sort of thing? How do I approach them so that they stop the derogatory reporting, which will in turn be counterproductive to my repair efforts? Do I try and dispute these and any other accounts that will keep reporting this way? Thanks,Julie
LadynRed
They are doing nothing wrong. They can continue to report the STATUS of the debts each month as that should accurately reflect the state of the account. If it was charged-off 2 years ago, its STILL a charge-off now. As long as they are not changing the date of last activity, they are within the law.
UnrulyJulie
I see. So I guess I'm forced to try and negotiate with them? Or dispute them altogether? Again, I am new at all this and I'm learning volumes everyday. I've been posting a lot because in addition to needing advice, I need to think out loud! Thanks for your response.
