jendela
I just wanted to know: If a credit calls you and asks you to start payments on a debt and you say ok I can give you x amount of dollars and they refuse....is the debt void? breathing_easier
Wlecome to the CIC!Are you asking whether the debt goes away because the creditor (either OC or CA) won't agree to your payment terms? No, the debt remains. However, if you are dealing with a collection agency (CA) and not an OC (original creditor) then you need to stop talking to them on the phone. Send a DV (debt validation) letter with a limited C&D (cease & desist) clause demanding that they contact you only in writing.Your first job is to read everything under the links at the top of this page and all the "stickies" (permanent threads) at the top of each forum. Then do a search by terms of this site for posts relating to your particular situation.
