strabismo
I had a collection account that showed up on my credit report. When I called the collection agency I asked them where it came from and they told me it was a hospital bill. I had been to the hospital and my bills were being sent to the correct address and they were being paid. This bill was from the doctor and they had the wrong address and therefore I never received a bill. Yet they reported the collection against my report. I paid immediately when I found out, but it is still on my credit report. What is the best way to have this removed since they were in error with the wrong address. ciscoguyinkc
With paid medical collections I have had good luck with good-will letters to the Dr. to whom the bill was owed. In fact, I have had 100% success with it. I have never had any luck dealing with CAs though. T
c m chase
If you have a paid collection, hound them into validating.Send them a DV letter stating you paid the account and now upon research of your records, don't think it was yours (or that you'd previously paid, etc) and that you want validation...they will ignore your letter. Send them another a little more angry, stating you want FULL validation or the account completely removed from your file or you will submit complaints to the proper authorities and pursue legal means. They normally don't want to mess with you, so they'll delete. Search on this site for 'nutcase letter' and see what you can come up with.
