Mouse
A friend of mine asked for some advice. He said that his credit is a mess as his fathers credit problems have shown up on his credit report. They apparently have exactly the same name. There are more than 30 items on there that he claims are his dad's. I have had some success with some of my and DH's stuff and he wanted to know what the best approach is to handle this. Is the usual debt validation procedure appropriate or do the credit bureaus provide a split file in order to separate his file from his Dad's? I would appreciate any feedback.Happy thanksgiving

Mouse
Thanks Don. Now he say that it appears that not everything is negative that there is just so much of it with mortgages and so on that it drastically drags down his fico score . I assume the same procedure is then valid.
