jchase
Hello everyone,I had a couple questions concerning my credit report and was looking for a little help if possible. I have a charge off from a discover card in '99. This account was sold to sherman acquisitions. I paid sherman and their account is now showing paid collection. However, the discover card is stilling showing as a charge-off. Shouldnt this account be updated to show being paid? Also, on older charge offs, is it possible to negotiate after payment for deletion? I had a few that I negotiated the price on but I would like to have them removed. Is it possible to offer the difference on what was owed in exchange for deletion? I really appreciate any assistance.carter
DocDon
Discover should show "sold / transferred to other lender" with a $0 balance. Since you have the upper hand, I would write Discover and demand deletion for their violation of the FCRA (section 623) for reporting incorrect information to the CRA's. I assume the others are paid "settled for lesser amount"? Try disputing as "to be deleted upon receipt of payment per agreement". There's no need to dish out more money for these.
