garnish of wages

Hi,

I live in TX.

I was curious if CA or CO can sue to garnish wages in my state?

I was also curious, when it says (and I think this is case in TX correct me if I am wrong) that my house is protected, does this mean that they can't take away any $ value in the house? I have over 80% in the house, does this mean if they win judgement they can't take anything from it?

if the above is true, why don't people use any $ left to pay their mortage so that the judgement can't touch it?
