Method of Verification Question

Recommended Posts

I sent requests to Trans Union and Equifax for their method of verification of some collection accounts on my report that I can not get deleted. Transunion sent me a vague letter that it is their policy to call or write to each creditor when a dispute is received, but nothing in the way of specifics for these 2 creditors. Equifax sent me a copy of my credit report. What type of verification proof should I receive, and what should I do now?

Have you sent DV letters to the CA's? If you haven't, i would try that as well.

As far as the CRA's go.. Keep creating the paper trail. Do one more procedual request requesting the specific info you want (addresses, names etc) . They won't reply, demand deletion. They probably won't delete, take em to court.

I have sent DV letters. My first one went out about 55 days ago, and my second one went out about 20 days ago. I've been following the debt validation flow chart and have created quite a paper trail, but the CA keeps verifying with the CRA every time I dispute it. I have the CA on multiple violations, and would like to sue them. I need the method of verification from the CRA's to help strengthen my case. I woul like the proof that the CA actually verified the item. My understanding of the FCRA is that if requested the CRA should provide me with the name and contact information of the person they verified the information with. Am I correct? Should I send another letter to the CRA's (in this case it is TU and EQ) stating that their MOV is not acceptable?

Thanks for the help!

They are SUPPOSED to, but we all know that what they actually do and what they are supposed to do are two different things. I would send another letter to the CRA saying MOV unacceptable. They probably still won't reply but it will strengthen your case overall. Most likely you will have to threaten both, but it will probably be more fun to clean the floor with the CA (in my opinion). You can give the CA a letter showing their violations and let them know if they don't delete that you intend to file suit. Get all that documented, hopefully they will give in and then go after the CRA if they don't comply...
