confused1
My husband called the CA and offered to settle a debt. They agreed to a percentage but only if I give them my ATM info over the phone. I told him, HELL NO! They said it would be the last time to settle with them for that amount and if we call again, it would be for a higher settlement amount or the full amount of the debt. He did this before my DV letter was sent out. All I've been getting is phone calls from them, no letter. What do I do? Do I still send out the DV letter? DocDon
Oh please. The CA has to get the settlement offer from the OC. Good for you for not giving them your information. You would have found your account drained for the entire amount.Send them a DV and C&D. Then contact the OC's executive offices an make a settlement offer. Ask to the have the CA info deleted from your files.
confused1
Thanks DocDon.Does the sample DV letter here include the C&D? Can I send that DV letter to the CA and the OC? Also, is there a sample letter/format I can send to the OC's executive offices to offer the settlement amount? I assume sending a letter is better than a phone call. DocDon
ALWAYS communicate in writing. Especially when dealing w/ a CA. Leave nothing to chance and protect yourself. Here's some samples: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/
LynnInMN
It is the end of the month.....they want the commision on their Dec check. They will push like heck for a pay by phone. Or western union. However more mistakes are made during the end of the month push....never give in to them!!
LadynRed
On top of that, their line about never getting a settlement offer that low again is BS. I keep getting letters about every 3 months offering me this 'wonderful chance to take care of your debt' - yeah, right. Don't listen to them, they're just trying to turn the screws. confused1
Should I call OC directly and try to settle with them over the phone? OR should I send in something like the sample letter that's given here to the OC and wait for their response?
confused1
I'm gonna write to them instead of calling. The only letter I see here is the Agreement of Compromise letter. Should I send the OC that letter and offer my settlement in that letter? Also if/when they agree to the compromise offer, should I state they should write PAID AS AGREED in my CR?
