Seapup
Question:Does anyone have any experience with getting Red Light Tickets off you credit report? I got a ticket for being in the middle of an intersection when the light changed. The camera takes a picture of your lic. plate and they bill you. It has NOT gone to an agency, it is from the City of Washington DC for $150.00. They were sending to my old address. I have no issue paying for it, but I dont want it to stay on my report. Josh Mcgrath
hmm..the first step is to dispute as "not mine". I'd like to see them send the pictures to you. Why havent they issued a warrant??? I know in Texas, if you owe 5 bucks, youre going to jail if you don't pay- we are just driving ATM machines to the city...Btw, even police officers HATE cameras at intersections. Fight it in court. I would take it to the supreme court if I ever got one by a 'camera'. Think of this way, (in the offier's words that told me), "Is there a police officer or anyone making sure the cameras are operating correctly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?" bluealex915
Here in Utah they tried that for a while, the state even called it photo cop. People threw a fit and some folks challenged it in court and photo cop went away.
MaggieNY
Here in New York, I got one of those red light tickets. It came with pictures of my car and license right after I went through the red light (it had changed from yellow to red quicker than I expected-I was trying to beat the red light..dumb). The picture quality wasn't that great, but the license was clearly read on it and the picture of my car was also clearly mine. I had no intention of disputing, but now even if I had wanted to, there was no way I would attempt to.Anyway, the ticket was for $50 and I sent the check in the same day. Is the amount different for each state, or was it $150 because it wasn't paid on time?
DocDon
So what if you weren't driving?
bluealex915
That is one of the problems that folks were challenging here in Utah. There were even a few cases of people cheating on thier spouses and getting caught because when they said they were at work photo cop got a snap shot of them driving down the road with another person in the car. Ya, it didn't last very long here. People becan to talk about invasion of privacy and that sort of thing.
DocDon
I don't know how they can issue a civil infraction to the registered owner of the vehicle if they're only getting pics of the plates. What a great practical joke. Borrow your friend's car and run red lights all day.BTW, everyone knows that you should wear a disguise if you're gunna have an affair with somebody.... MaggieNY
On the ticket I got in the mail, it did have directions on how to dispute it. I didn't as I knew I ran the red light and knew the ticket was coming. However, if I hadn't been driving, I would have disputed it for sure. I'm not sure how disputing works though. The ticket stated that it would not add points to my license so I was happy enough just paying the $50.
DocDon
That's even worse. Usually all the options are listed on the backs of the tickets.
