Innovis and CSC Credit Bureaus

Recommended Posts

CSC is the file owner for the Equifax credit reports. If they have a file on you, you should deal with them rather than Equifax.

I have never bothered with Innovus. I never even heard of them until recently. I don't think many creditors check with them, but there's no reason not ot make sure they have good files too.

I don't know who checks Innovus, but I know first premier reports to them. Don't personally know who else reports to them.

Innovis is now LexisNexis and these guys are real difficult to deal with, trust me I dealt with them. If you request your credit file from them they are going to tell you that they are not a CRA. If you get this ansewer call thier bluff. By definition of the FCRA they sure as hell are one and don't let them tell you otherwise.

If you do get a copy of your report and you dispute something and they verify it. Be prepared to send them a PR letter. Keep really good track on the time limits they have to respond back to you by. After you PR letter them they are going to tell you that they verified your information with a company called " Dolan Information services " more then likely.

If they do this you need to know that LexisNexis owns Dolan and it is a subsidary of LexisNexis, pretty interesting how they can verify your information with a company that they own. Sounds like a conflict of interest if you ask me. They are all owned by the Reed Elsevier Group and you can link them together by thier tax id numbers.

The reason I know this is becuase this is how far I took it before I gave up and put them on the back burner. If you take it any farther then I did please let me know how it goes, I do plan to go after them again after my court date with Experian. If you do go on, look into something called " Prohibition to Circumvent Responsabiltiy as a CRA ". This might help you out if you get the same answers as I did.

Good Luck and fight them all the way..................................

I do believe so, I can't remember where but I think read an artical that said LexisNexis bought Innovis and they are owned by the Reed Elsevier Group. I will try and find it and post the link just to make sure my info is correct. Don't take this to the bank right now but I am almost sure of it. let me try and find some info on it.

I think I may have gotten my articals confused. I apologize to everyone. Here is what I was thinking of:

Reed Elsevier to acquire the public record business of Dolan Media Company

26 June 2003

Reed Elsevier Group plc today announced that its global legal division, LexisNexis, has entered into a definative agreement to buy the public records business of Dolan Media Company.

26 June 2003

Reed Elsevier Group plc today announced that its global legal division, LexisNexis, has entered into a definitive agreement to buy the public records business of Dolan Media Company. Dolan Media is a leading provider of US electronic public records information, including bankruptcies, civil judgements, federal and state tax liens and eviction notices. It specialises in large scale and rapid gathering of public records data.

The business will be integrated within the LexisNexis Risk Management operation, part of the Corporate and Federal Markets Division. Dolan Media’s public records business is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has 180 employees. In the 12 months ended 31 March 2003 the public records business reported revenues of $44 million.

Bill Pardue, CEO of the Corporate and Federal Markets Division of LexisNexis commented: "The Dolan public records business will fit well with LexisNexis’ broad public records content, industry focused solutions and risk scoring technology. This acquisition will expand further the capabilities of LexisNexis in the strongly growing risk management market."

I have got so many things going on these days I am trying to keep from going crazy dealing with the CRA's. C M Chase, I hope I didn't give you a heart attack on this one. Anyway, there is the artical that I was thinking of, If you dispute something with Lexis Nexis and you get a response letter that says they verified your dispute. More then likely they verified it with a company called Dolan, a company which they own. That just does not seem right or legal to me. Some how this has got to be an attempt to aviod responsiblity under the FCRA by circumventing the FCRA with it's coporate restructuring.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks...........................

thank you for double checking your statements, and clearing that up.

I agree about verifying with your own company. However, look at it this way. Dolan is the supplier of information to L/N. So L/N verifying it with Dolan would be legit. However, let's go deeper. Isn't Dolan a CRA? Yes, they are, if they are buying information and reselling it for profit. So, go straight to Dolan and get your file, and dispute it with them. Get to the root of the problem, the one who actually gets it from the courthouses. Then you can kick off some judgment disputes. That's my next step after collections, so thanks for the info you've given. I just might check further into it myself.

What doesn't make sense is that a piece of information would go through so many places before it gets to the CRA. Is that what they call "establishing reasonable procedures to ensure complete accuracy". Whoa, that doesn't seem very reasonable to me.

That is what I would do, Dolan sure meets the criteria of a CRA if you ask me. Just work your way up the chain so to speak. If you get a hard time from Dolan about how they are not a CRA you might have to get tough. If they do verify your information you then should do a PR letter on them and see what they do. Let me know how it goes, I never had a chance to take it this far. I have to get my court date with Experian cleared up first and then I am going to start on Dolan again.

Good Luck.......
