efish
Question. If an account is only required by law not to remain on your credit file for no more than 7.5 years, how long can a collection remain? Let me re-phrase. If I go delinquent with an account in 1998 and it gets turned over to a collection agency, also in 1998, and they don't start reporting til 2002, does the collection account remain for an additional 7.5 years?? Or are all done in 7.5? Thank you bunches!!Happy Holidays.
c m chase
Everything is counted from the date you went delinquent. The OC date should be the same as the CA date, and they should fall off at the same time. If it doesn't, the CA has reaged and is doing so illegally.
