wunderwoman
I wish I'd get a call like that. I'd start running off questions like; What would your strategy be to remove a collection account that was paid off three years ago?I disputed a debt with a collection agency and they keep calling me, what do you think I should do about it?How many FCRA violations have you claimed in court in the past three years? When was the FCRA amended?Which FTC opinion letter tackles the issue of identity theft and credit reporting?I'm NOT kidding, this is what I would do. I would have a ball. I'm rebellious by nature, and this would be FUN!

breathing_easier
Are these companies credit repair firms (like Lexington Law Firm) or credit counseling firms that do debt consolidation?

breathing_easier
I wonder why a credit repair firm would want you to take classes? It would be in their best interest for customers not to take classes in credit repair as they would become knowledgeable and not need credit repair! The credit repair firms I've been solicited by simply want my $$$ so that they can do what I've already been doing for myself. On the other hand, credit counseling or debt consolidation firms want to cut up your cards, negotiate with your creditors for a lesser amount, and (supposedly) consolidate your debt into one lower monthly payment. I can see why creditors might want debtors, in return for agreeing to a lesser amount, to agree to credit management classes so that the debtor doesn't get into the same pickle again. But a credit repair firm requiring classes? I don't get it.
