BudgetMan
I DV'd a collection agency and disputed their claim. IT's been well over 30 days and they haven't responded. Next thing I know, I get a letter from the lawyer that represents them, stating I need to dispute the claim in 30 days, etc., ec. I ALREADY disputed their claim! Is this some stall tatic they are using. What should I do next?
Guest
Considering that you DVd them once.. send the lawyer a copy of your first letter... and tell him that if he is collecting for them then he has now violatied the FDCPA and he can now be added to the list of violations they are wracking upDont back down and dont let it go. nolo
And don't forget to file an online complaint with the FTC for EVERY FDCPA/FCRA VIOLATION. (just follow the link in my sig line)
BudgetMan
I'm new at this. What exact laws have they violated? And is there a sample letter here to write the lawyer that is trying to collect for them?
