wunderwoman
I had a VALID judgment on my credit report, which wasn't due to fall off for another two years. The date on the judgment was incorrect, by four months. I disputed as "wrong date" with all credit bureaus, and so far, Experian has deleted! YIPPEE! I am super excited, it almost feels like a reward for all the Identity Hell Crisis I went through. If all three bureaus "luckily" delete the judgment, I will look for a house in one year, instead of my planned two years. Also, I was able to remove some old addresses as well. Ooooh, I hope Transunion and Equifax delete too.

Recovering Attorney
just remember that judgments are liens on real property for 10 years, and are enforceable in NYS for 20 years, so you will have to take care of it before you buy your house. It would attach as a lien to your proeprty and the lender will not abide by that as it threatens their priority position. Judgments in NYS accrue interest at 9%

wunderwoman
I've been paying on this judgment for the past 5 years, every month, never late (my bank sends the payment direct from my account), and since it's a medical judgment I heard that the lenders are a bit more lenient. I also heard that the SOL on that is 10 years, but I could be wrong. I'll be sure to factor the cost to clear it into the equation. Thanks for the info. LuuCkyJaa
Congrats on the delete!!! Like recovering said, that doesn't make the judgment go away. Here in NY, they stay forever unless satisfied.I have a motion to vacate coming up Tuesday. I am hoping that the OC's (Providian) attorney won't show-up since they sold the debt earlier this year to Sherman Acquisitions. However, Sherman has not filed the paperwork to take over the judgment, so I couldn't serve them (even if I wanted to!).Warmest regards,James from Brooklyn
