DocDon
Not responding to a dispute and continuing collections is not a violation. Continuing collection activity while in possession of a request for validation is.

DocDon
I think I did.I disputed this account with transunion, it come back deleted it was for medical in 1998, which sol is over. The SOL to collect has nothing to do with the 7-year reporting rule for negative information. The original amount was for 64.00 dollars before i get the results back from transunion, i get a bill for $11.74 dollars from the same ca on the same account which was deleted do you think they are trying to be sneaky and get me to pay a payment to reinstate it, if so is this a violation! Disputing the information with trans union has nothing to do with the validity of the debt. It simply means they didn't respond to the dispute.I did not dv the ca!DV the CA. dbranch3
Ok DocDON I SEE your point I know that sol has nothing to really do with this topic but i try to put in as much information about it as I can, I may have just put in uneccesary info so let me ask another question? What would be the purpose of them sending me that smaller amount notice after they didnt respond to the cra! What could be the logic behind that!
DocDon
It could be a settlement amount authorized by the creditor.... my point was there is no violation by them asking for a smaller amount after not responding to a dispute. It's unusual for a CA not to respond - it's usually just the opposite - they usually verify the info even if it's wrong....Since it is out of SOL, send them a C&D letter.
