My Identity Theif on his way to prison...

After 2 years of tracking down the person who stole my identity, and literally became me, I finally found him and he's on his way to jail.

2 weeks ago I went to a Preliminary hearing in Las Vegas, and thank God he pleaded GUILTY!!

I'm waiting for the sentencing date from the District Attorney.

I fought the police department to help me, but they called it "white blood" and weren't willing to help. When I finally got a detective to look at the case, he shelved it, UNTIL I sent him a warning letter stating I'd seek help from the US Justice Dept.

Over the period of 2 years, I was able to collect photo ID's of the theif, amongst various other documents proving he was the one who fraudulently stole my identity. Yet nobody was willing to help, that is until I was preparing to seek help from the Justice Dept.

The identity theft in my case fraudulenty racked up over $100k in debt. He even used my SS # to get a job.

And it's finally coming to an end - I'll be attending his sentencing later this month.

For those of you who are in this sort of predicament, don't give up. It will take you some leg work, but you can find the person and bring them to justice.

Wow, that's awesome. I'm glad justice was finally served.

As much as I hate having bad credit and am trying everything to clean it up, I always say that there is ONE benefit to having bad credit - no one can open any credit accounts in my name, not even myself! :)

the sentencing date has been postponed, as the Identity thief has been scheduled for a January court date before a District Court judge. I'm not certain if they'll sentence him at that time or not. However I was told that I will have the opportunity to speak at his sentencing, so I'm just waiting for the DA to contact me.

This was a total nightmare, now I have to go through the fun of cleaning up my credit reports. Alot of creditors still refuse to acknowledge Identity Theft, so I guess I'll see them in court soon while I clean up with lots of cash ;-)
