By now I know scoring is finicky, but this sucks butt.

I haven't gotten a results letter from Equifax yet, but I checked PG today and noticed my score had dropped 11 points so I compared today's pull with yesterday's pull. Differences:

Deleted one 2 year old collection

Payment status on another collectin changed from "Upaid" to "Checked"

Remarks on another collection (Asset) changed from "N/A" to "CONSUMER DISPUTES THIS ACCOUNT INFORMATION" and under the "Account two year history" section, it's green 'ok's across the board.

This collection isn't even 2 years old, so there can't be 2 years of history.

Under a disputed Chargeoff, The Remarks changed from N/A to "CONSUME DISPUTES THIS ACCOUNT INFORMATION" and the two year history changed from RED CO's up until August to Green OK's across the board

Another 5 year old collection, Payment Status changed from "Account Disputed" to "Checked"

Does this sound kosher to you all? My experience tells me "checked" means verified at Equifax. I get that, but should it also drop your score? I think not.

In your experience, does your score recover from disputes?

Like I said above, this sucks butt.

Agreed. Although you can use FAKO's as a guideline to guage your credit picture, don't get all caught up in the numbers. People panic when their score flucuates by 3 points. Relax. I'd take the deletion of a charge-off over the drop in score ANY day.

Charge off is one of the worse things you can have on your report, no matter how old it is (ie: 6 years, 11 months, 180 days).

The goal here is to improve your credit picture. The score will come with time. Really, the only time you should be freaking about your score is when you're going to finance something and want the best APR if you think about it.

Thank you for the responses.

Doc -- yes, unfortunately (or highly fortunately, however you want to look at it :D ) we're going to be closing on our home within the next month or two and my score is hugely important. That 11 point fluctuation could mean a lot of APR, if i understand it correctly. We're also at the cusp of getting 100% financed instead of laying out the $15,000 at closing for 5% down. Having that $15K for things like window coverings and appliances would be really nice.

I'll just sit back hope this resolves itself before we close.

Just to clarify, I didn't get a charge off deleted, it was a collection. It remains on Experian, though, so I'll still have to pay it at closing.
