badcreditsucks
I sent out pay for delete letters on 12-01-04, and I have only received one back (hospital bill stating that they would not delete but that it would look better as a paid collection ) The other one sent me a settlement offer, but was from a different CA that I did not originally contact ? I guess it got sold to them or something.Should I just pay the Original Creditors and then dispute with the CAs to see if they will get deleted that way? Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
miracle
Have you already sent DV letters to the CAs? That would be your first step -Jenn

momof5
Viktor,I can see by your 26 posts how much experience you have in this....A PAID COLLECTION IS NOT BETTER THAN AN UNPAID COLLECTION! It hurts your score just as bad. Period. The debt has already been defaulted on. They put the collection on your bureau. You request a PFD. If they say, 'No' then you say sorry you get no money. No win for me, why should I pad YOUR paycheck with 20% of what I send. I will keep it myself. When you change your mind and want your 20% write me back with the PFD acceptance and we can do business. A win-win situation.... Later
Carlos
OUTSTANDING MO5 That wording should be put in to a stadard letter in the help section under CONSUMER INFO. If enough of us communicate this thought to the CAs maybe we can effect a change in their behavior.
lefty
CAs will tell you they can't go with pay for delete because the CRAs will pull their contract. Don't know if this is true or not but another way is to get a letter stating they will not verify if you dispute it with the CRAs. That way if it gets verified you have someones arse in a wringer. momof5
True Lefty, but we all need to stand firm. Either the CRAs allow an IMPROVEMENT in one's score if a CA is paid or we never pay them. There is no benefit to the consumer to pay.Even *if* the CRAs have some kind of agreement with the CA, the CA can still agree to a PFD. Their letter should read: "Upon receipt of payment of this account, you, Joe Consumer, will dispute this TL with the CRA and we agree not to respond to the CRA." It is the fine line of legality. The CA did not delete the listing so they did not violate the contract with the CRA.

workinninetofive
Momof5 is right.. DON'T settle for paid collection is just as bad. If it comes down to that, don't pay for it.. keep disputing it.. these CA's have to get their stuff together.
