j32captain
I am still in the process of paying and fixing. I did not know that I could talk to creditors to have information changed. Can I send letters or talk to creditors that have already been paid off through collection agencies to remove or at least lessen negative information. If so how? DocDon
Sure you can. Just get the letters off to their executive level. Reps at the "general correspondence address" are generally not authorized to carry out such a request. There is no way to make a collection "less negative". A paid collection is equally as bad as an open collection in the eyes of FICO. Request deletion of the information.Might not happen the first time around, but keep at it. admin
You can still apply the debt validation technique to paid collections.
j32captain
I just called a collector that had a couple medical bills that went into collections. I asked very nicely and explained the situation. And got a F#%$ you (not exactly that language of course) I was going to pay them off today, should I wait and pay off a collector more willing to help now or what. Can I dispute CCs that my EX-wife added me to her accounts which went to collections relatively easily? If conseco had an account which was sent to GE and both are still on there (paid of course) can I remove at least one? I only have a few collections left for medical bills. The rest is trying to clean up the mess being layed off and shafted in a divorce did.
Helifixer
You can still apply the debt validation technique to paid collections.First of all I would like to say this site is a wealth of knowledge which I wish I had found it sooner. I paid off alot of CAs to clear my credit to purchase a house, but never demand validation. Even though they have me as paid or settled, do I still send the DV letter you have posted or should I reword it? Boy I wish I found this site back in Jun... would of probably save lots of money LOL.
