Heironymous
I am deeply depressed and need some advice. Years ago(about 10 years ago) I screwed my credit up really badly after having a car loan and some department store credit cards. I basically just ignored it and many of those mistakes fell off my report. Now years later, I was able to get several cap1 cards, a providian, merrick bank and a few others. Well I moved to a new state back in 04 and was unable to find work for 4 months which in turn caused me to be unable to pay any of my cards. Now they are ALL charged off, all 6 of them. Luckily I still have my bank debit and a paypal card so I can still have some semblance of a "credit card" for online purchases and so forth. Now again, I was layed off from job right before Christmas. I have been searching for work for 6 weeks with no luck yet. It is very depressing. I took a look at my EX report and didn't get the score but I am sure its low 300's. Is there any way out of this mess? I want to buy a house someday and be able to invest in real estate. Having crappy credit at my age(early 30's) makes me feel like a complete loser. Having no job doesn't help in that department either.
bigdaddyroy
Heironymous,First of all, never give up hope! All things are possible! Get your credit report from the major three bureaus. Additionally, read this forum for ways in which to get your FICO and FAKO scores.Second, reparing credit will not happen over night. This is a process that takes time and effort. Finally, post here regularly for help. You must keep detailed records and be committed to correcting any thing that can be damaging your credit. There are a lot of great people at this site that will offer you assistance and advice. I have been to other sites, but they cannot compare in my opinion to this one. Become a regular and pick up good advice daily. Before you know it, you will see progress.
c m chase
Besides getting your credit reports to start off with, the other advice I will give is to KEEP any letters you get from collection agencies. They may prove to be useful later on. You'll be fine. That's why we're ALL here...we were (or are, as the case may be) in your same situation. There's a way out. It takes time and a little patience. And we're here to help you through all of the b.s. that comes along with it. Welcome to the site!

momof5
Adding my welcome to the list! When I first found this site I had 20 pages of bad TLs and NO good! I had 2 BKs, 8 judgments, tax lien, 1 repo, 18 collection accounts and cc's closed by credit grantor with a string of late pays..... That was in 3/02..... I now own a new house, 3 cars, 4 cc's and a positive cash flow. It works! Read and learn! Welcome aboard!
bluealex915
Heironymous,I just wanted to add my two cents, I started my credit repair journey about a year and a half ago. At that time all of my scores were in the mid to high 300"s. As of yesterday I am in the mid to high 500's. I still have a ways to go but think of it like this. If I would have done nothing about it I would still be in square one.Credit repair is like anything else that takes time and dedication. It is a process and there is no overnight fix, I promise you. I have been able to get almost twenty negative trade lines removed from my reports over the last year and a half so I am a witness that it really works.Learn the process, develop a startegy and then began. Ask alot of questions from the folks in here. I have been there and I know how it feels.Good luck............................................... welch
Welcome,It can be done. But read first, I began my repair based on what CCS etc. stated and the initial start hurt me more since I paid without deletion. Started with over 90 negative trade lines on each report over 270 in total. A year and 1/2 later I have two negative items, one on EQ and one on Experian. Scores jumped from 520's to 712. It took time and eveyday it gets better. It really only cost me in postage after I realized I need to dispute and only pay for deletion.
TakingNoMore
it can be done.I started off the same as you, thinking I had the worst credit history ever known to man, but I ran across this board and started doing research for myself and found that mine is not the "worst ever" and neither is yours. It is fixable. I know how you feel. Keep your head up and keep coming back to this board. Someone here will always be willing to help you. Even me. manucci
Hello:Before finding this site, I thought all the doors were closed on me. My PG credit report was 45 pages full of Inquiries, Lates, CO, Collections, multiple collections on same accounts, re-aged accounts, you name it.I am now down to 2 negative TL in my credit report and happier than ever.I am sure your credit will shine again; just don't give up.Manucci

mzjazzyazz
Welcome to the board. You will find alot of helpful (and not so helpful people) on the board. The main thing I will tell you to do is stay focused. Sometimes things may not go as you would like but if you stay persistent, and keep good records and paper trails, things will happen. I just did my first round of disputes and got an average of 5 collections removed from each report. Things won't happen overnight, but stay at it. Read FCRA and FDCPA. There is alot of great information in there that will pave the way for deletions from your reports. Good Luck. The best thing about learning how credit works is that after you get it cleaned up, you won't want to be late on anything again. Last month before I started to repair my credit, I was careless and didnt care about lates. Now, as soon as I get the bill, I try to pay it because I don't want my credit score to go down. Just wait and see, you will have your turn.

Having crappy credit at my age(early 30's) makes me feel like a complete loser. Having no job doesn't help in that department either. I've got to offer my welcome in too. I've not been a member of these boards long, but I lurked for a good long time, reading everything. Along with trying to work on it alone and learn this mess. I went from having two student loans in default, couldn't get a secured card at one point. Thought I had that all taken care of and my ex managed to forget to pay everything. I couldn't get many cards, but it does get better. I'll say keep your chin up, get a bit angry, dig your heels in and prepare for the ride of your life.... but don't quite!!!! you will see progress, just be patient.I'm now currently in the low to mid 600's after working on this since Apr. 04 I have a Dell card > 1,500 limit, granted 28.74 interest, but hey..... it's a start, Household Master card, 2 cap one cards, one for 950, one for 300, my household is 800 limit, and First Premier for 600. I also qualifid for Care Credit for 1,000 for some dental work I needed. Cap one just decreased my APR on my oldest card to 11.9 (I started at 19.9 on that card) it happens, and when it does it is a marvelous feeling. Now if only I didn't have to carry a balance and have such utilization on my cards right now, but being disabled with only my VA pension makes it tough to live.Whatever you do, find new ways to smile start here.>>>> and to all the credit agencies LMAO ! just found the more smilies LOL love them <snicker>
sxxx
Hello Heir:I would say first read and search everything on this board to get a complete understanding of what you are going to do and how, and then get to it!!!Don't be discourage, this maybe a blessing in disguise so you will have to cease obtaining more credit to get in more trouble. I got into trouble with my credit in my early 20's, but this turn out to be a blessing because with age, comes wisdom and I won't walk that way again. And once you start cleaning up your credit, to me it became fun!!!But be steady as she goessss!!!!! sxxx
Thanks VonnieSome of this stuff is overwhelming, but I think I now have it under control, I just didn't know that collections break so many rules and don't care, I guess that's why you have fools like ENRON running around. What are laws for it the federal govt are not going to enforce them? Will be Patient Question:I have OC still hanging around like Provdian and Cross Country if I write them does that start the DOLA over again? Or should I just let sleeping dogs lie. They are both due to come off in 2006!!!
jtd333
Hi Heir: I get headache every time I look at reports, these reports are inhuman. there decisions are made upon programs and codes. ie I've been disputing lates from Bank America for 2 years that just appear on a mortgage loan that was paid off in 12/98. Just keep at it. Tip- if you have written proof from a creditor that there is an error and they will fix it. Have them send you the same letter they send the cra's. And then fax the letter to them(Eq,Tu,Ex) after prying there fax # from them. This can save several weeks in them updating your file. Sometimes i've seen it in days.JD
beeboah
You will be fine. I filed BK7 in 2002. I went from a 502 to a 618 in less than a yr using this board. I got several post bankruptcy CC and then lost my job. I ended up maxing out all of my new cards just to put food on the families' plates. I figured I'd never get credit again, but I am not going to give up. Stay focused on this, but enjoy your life to. Time will work wonders trust me. Just remain pro-active, but not to the point where it is going to effect your life negatively. When you see a good idea posted, try it out and give it a go. It might just work in your situation, if not keep asking questions.
