I am befuddled

I had a Target card opened back on 7/97- I wrote to the oc and the cra to remove as not mine, the cra has removed it, the oc sent me a letter (with an app to get another one  ) stating the tl was mine and that they can send me the proof if I provide the notorized info.

Well the fact that it is already removed is fine with me. But if they validated (kinda) are they breaking some ruling? I sure as heck am not sending any notorized ssn info!

How would you proceed?

What probably happened is, Target (pronounced "Tar-Jay") received the request for verification and just didnt respond. That caused the CRA to delete the TL.

The sending you the offer to verify probably happened after that CRA did their thing. They obviously want your business and didn't dispute your CRA request to delete.

I can tell ya that it will most likely pop back up. Are you against Target? I love my card from there. I'd go ahead and geta new account. But that's just me :)

??? I had a BK and 5oo's when I got mine. Nevertheless, always better to pay cash and avoid the endless barrage of bills every month :)

Good luck

I have to disagree here, only because I am begining to get real suspecious of all credit grantors. They may have provided the app as a way to get you to prove you owe the debt. They may not be able to find the paperwork they need, so if you fill out the app and return it they have your signature and it matches their records.

What tips me off is the bit about the TL being yours and they will cough up the info if you return notorized info.
