Paying judments

I managed to get a judgment off my credit report through the credit bureaus. It is unpaid.

My question is, shouldn't I still pay this so it isn't renewed (in NY) and stuck back on my credit report?

Also, I'm about to get a house. Couldn't they put a lien on my house because of the judgment?

Last question, should you alawys pay judgments because of this wether they are on your report or not?

There's lots to know here. Quick tips:

The judgment may or may not become a lien in its own county if you by a home there. It depends on the filing procedures for obtaining a lien on real property, and whether they've been followed before you buy the home. They could be followed afterwards, but it's possible the later-filed lien could not be foreclosed ... or for practical reasons of priority wouldn't be foreclosed (lest the judgmentholder have to pay the mortgagee) ... so it might just sit there until you sell.

It won't become a lien elsewhere unless the judgmentholder takes the extra step of recording it elsewhere (possibly even filing an action to have it recognized in your new state of residence).

I haven't declared BK. As for vacating the time period has expired.

One of thejudments is for taxes for NY. The other judgment is from a credit card.

So from what I am reading, they could possibly put a lien on my house that I buy. So in your opinion is it best to pay?

I would think that NY especially would go after me because it is tax related.

Also, does anyone know a good book or somewhere where I can get a complete pictur eof judments and liens and how they work?
