shaneIrish
I want to pay this $450 collection, I called AFNI to get a letter from them stating I would like to pay, but only after I receive a letter from them stating it would be removed from my credit reports..they said no, they cannot do it and will only send me a letter after I pay it. I want to pay, I owe the money and I guess a paid collection looks better that an unpaid one. What would you do? It is a fairly new account. workinninetofive
I guess you could pay it and then try to get it deleted. But, if they put paid collection on there.. its not doing you much good. When you dv'd them.. did they provide proof? I dv'd them and they dropped but then had Sprint pop back up. I had to dispute that, and then they both disappeared.

It is a fairly new account.Have I been gone that long Do we not do Cease and Desist Letters to Collection Agencies anymore? Have you done a debt validation letter? A paid collection is as negative as not paying the debt...and it stays of the full seven years! You may need to look at the sample letters and get started the right way which is not to talk to collectors at all . They can't help you only the original creditor can do a settlement letter and keep negs off your cr.Keep us informed and Good Luck!
DocDon
Calling AFNI will get you that response. The 1-800 reps are not authorized to fulfill that kind of request. All requests of that nature must be made at the executive level, and even then, has to be written to convince them that it can in fact be done, and is the quickest way to resolve the situation. shaneIrish
It been a year since I got the collection letter, I was ignorant then to the ways of handling these matters. I never sent a DV letter. I just sent this letter certified rrr:January 11, 2005Afni, Inc.404 Brock DriveBloomington, IL 61702-3427Re: Account #: 00000000000Dear Afni, Inc.I would like to pay the above mentioned account in full, but would like a letter from Afni, Inc. stating that once you receive payment in full you will delete the collection entry from any and all credit reporting agencies you report to including Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. This is my first and only offer to pay and I will not accept any other terms other that what I have offered. If you are unable to grant such a request please forward this to an account executive who is authorized to.
