jojo67
I have an account that just came back "Reviewed" and updated Originally it was showing 0 balance, collection, in chap 13 personal receivership. It just came back today, "Paid collection" Notes: "In Dispute by Consumer, reported by subscriber"The thing is I don't recognize the OC : Primus TelecommI've never had an account with them, nor ever even heard of them. I did DV them, and they received it 12/23/04 so I can't do much at the moment but wait. This acct only shows on EX and date open was 1999. I used to live in CA, now live in ORany ideas what next? <EDIT> additional info, I've never filled any BK's of any kind so right there it seems it was wrong. I've had no contact from IC systems that I recall, they just keep verifying the report. Now the thing I really don't understand here, how does an "Item in dispute with the consumer, reported by subscriber" help or hurt me, I know that shows at least they are reviewing my disputes but what does that do the fico/fako scores

NewGuy
Something similar happened to me. I had a collection account with IC Systems originally for Verizon. I DV'd IC Systems, but 2 weeks later i get a letter from CBCS. Im assuming CBCS bought or was assigned the account. The account was in dispute before i received the letter from CBCS. Of course I promptly DV'd them and reminded them that I see no mention of their name in any of my reports and that if they are a division or assignee of IC Systems, then their letter is continued collection activity while my account is under dispute. Depending on the timing of you letter, they may or may not be required to send verification. It sounds like you maybe dealing with the rare debt collector who follows the law. jojo67
hmm, ok, so what does the "in dispute" do for me? I see it all over the board that they are required to mark it as such, but does that take it out of my score facter as well? It's a good thing if that's the case. Some creditors might even take it as you are a pain in the arse consumer.Marking it in dispute or not is what a lot of consumer sue debt collectors over. It is minor, and not a whole lot of damages are awarded.

Take a close look at the account. Make sure every detail is factual acurrate. Often times consumers miss the little things.
jojo67
I'm not sure if anything is factual actually, I've never heard of primus tellecom ????but it now shows as a paid colllection from 1999, so I can live with that..... it's only another year there, and getting into the so old it doesn't really matter much
