Dday
I receive various atempt to collect notices, which I have learned to ignore. When I received a phone call offering a CC settlement, I responded that I did not sign up for the majority of the CC's (they were joint accounts that my ex opened without my consent), I have no way of paying the debt, that the debt is unsecured, that my credit is already in the toilet ( i have a 576 score), and so I would not be paying anything.....and if their offer could beat that then I would be willing to listen. Next week I will be seeing a BK attorney who charges $1500 for a simple 7, and I also have an appointment with a credit repair group. What should I expect ???? Also, is it true that ones credit score will often improve sooner after a BK than it will through a lengthy repair strategy ??? As far as the student loans.....what will the government come after ??? thank you so much for your help..
LadynRed
The gov't will pursue you to your grave ! You cannot have student loans discharged. If you don't pay, the Dept of Ed will sieze your tax returns every single year and could possibly garnish wages - and they can do that w/o a lawsuit !! The credit repair people will not help you avoid lawsuits and they will cost you a ton of money.Yes, its true, its actually easier to recover after bankruptcy than it is to go thur a lengthy repair process.
