Stressin'
I have a law firm, that I DV'd last year, calling up my office to verify employment. My co-worker, who is at my old desk, said she found a message asking if I work here. Needless to say I'm freaking out in a major way!! Now when I DV'd this firm last year they never responded, and I never followed up. Is there a possibility that this firm might try to start garnishing my wages? That I might get served?? I'm freaking out.. maybe I need a word or two of support.. advice.
admin
You are far from the courtroom and therefore garnishment. No worries so far. If they are the same law firm - they may not be - then you have them for a FDCPA violation.
Stressin'
Thanks for replying so fast Admin. Unfortunately it is the same law firm that I DV'd that is calling. What gets me is that in my letter I requested they not call my place of employment, but I guess "verifying my employment" is their way around that.I guess I should send another DV out ASAP! Stressin'
Hi Admin. Thanks again for replying. Please excuse me for being a little naive on this, but I could send these "attorneys" an ITS letter for calling my place of employment (even if to verify employment) after I requested they not call AND because they have not verified the debt owed?In all honesty I don't doubt that the debt is mine and would like to eventually settle matters.. but yes, verification of the debt owed would be nice first!thanks!!!
