what does this mean?

Recommended Posts

I received a letter from EX today that states they were unable to investigate my disputes because I did not give them adequate identification. They state I need to send a copy of my DL and a utility bill with my current address. It says I can order my credit report from them-(duh, already have credit report) or if I already have a report I can go to experian.com and file the dispute there. Should I go online or send another letter? I'm new at this and was so hoping this would go smoothly!

Help! What do I do now?

I am not an expert, but I have read that this is a stall tactic. If you respond they will get 15 extra days. My understanding is you should ignore it and just give them the 30 (+5) days to respond to your original dispute. If they don't resppnd, then you can do an ITS letter to get their attention. Maybe someone else can throw in some more info. I am also having issues with EX...they must have a bunch of business school flunkies running the place. they must be aware that they are violating federal laws constantly!

Dealing with a CRA, they have no sure way to know it's you unless you send a copy of your DL(with your license number blacked out of course) So I would fax them or mail them a copy, fax is by far quicker, but some people like the paper trail. Now Dealing with a CA I would NEVER EVER sign a letter or send them an ID. (That's me personally) I do Print my name on letters because no one ever prints their signature, and I want them to kow I'm not using some agency form letters
