Jeep 2005
I just got off of the phone with Citi Cards and they were trying to convince me that a new Texas law allows them to report any lateness - even one day. My payment went through 6 days late (online bill pay.........gotta love it) and therefor they are claiming that they will report it as six days late in January.WTF?????????????? c m chase
I'm going to go out on a limb and say they were full of it. I did a search and nothing came up...besides, credit bureaus allow space for 30, 60, 90, etc lates....I doubt they'd change their entire format just because Texas wants it done. That's just silly. (Of course, it IS Bush's home state...sillier stuff HAS happened. )Now, if it's a BUSINESS acount...they can report a lot more precise lates on your D&B report. But that has nothing to do with what this lady was telling you.And if they report you 30 days late for being 6 days late, throw a stink about it. They can't do that either. miracle
I agree with Miss Chase! I have been told that line by another company. It is a scare tactic. If they report yout 30 days late when you were only 6 days late.. I would scream to high heaven about it. Squeeky wheel gets the grease.... ladyblue65
30 days late is 30 days past the due date on your statement, NOT 6 days.Fight it
Jeep 2005
Good! I was starting to wonder if I was on crack. I told the CS rep that I was very familar with the credit reporting process and that the account had to be 30 days past due to be reported.I then asked for a waiver of the late fee since it was my first one with them ever (two plus years) and she said yes to that. So looks like I won't have to worry about the other part...................
DREPDOM
That sound wierd to me bcause my wife and l are being paying her credit card for 3 years now and l lost track of how many times we have pay it 1 week b4 the 30 days period, and let me tell you there is not one late payment post it in the CR by that credit card. SO fight it!
bcp
I am certainly no expert, everything I have learned has been from these boards, but I think that being reported up to 29 days late would be the same as paid on time. The first late category is 30 days late.
