JENDELA1
I wrote a check back in July 2001 for 100 dollars. At the time I had just moved to a different city. My direct deposit thru my work was supposed to change to my new bank but they didnt do it on the day they said so the check I wrote bounced. I contacted the collection agency and told them of the mix up and offered to pay the check minus the 30 dollar fee. They refused; stating that even though it was not my mistake I was still obligated to pay the fee. I contacted my work's direct deposit department and they faxed a letter to the collection agency -still they refused to clear the debt. So I wrote the CA a check for 100 dolalrs and left it at that. Now 4 year later, I tried to dispute the 30 dollars with TU but they verified the amount twice! What can I do to get this off my credit...it is showing up on all 3 reports! adminppdotcom
FCRA 15 USC 1681g(a)(4) requires that if a consumer reporting agency is reporting information about "bounced" checks by the consumer, it must include the DATE, PAYEE, and AMOUNT of the bounced check. If you have trade lines that are a result of a bounced or dishonored check, make sure you check to assure it complies with the above. If not, dispute it with the consumer reporting agency. Good luck!
