removing inquires appearing from mortgage companies

Hi I'm new here so I hope my question doesn't seem dumb.

I have become concerned about a drop in my credit scores because of a number of inquiries that are showing up in my report.

Earlier this year I went to a mortgage broker to get the best rate for a new loan. It seems that this broker ran my credit and then everyone he contacted in regards to my credit also ran inquiries. So now I have 30+ inquiries from different mortgage related companies showing up on my credit reports.

I followed the advice of the this site and used the form letter for removing inquiries and sent it certified with return receipt to each of the bureaus and to each of the inquirers on my report.

However, several of the inquirers have sent me back form letters that say they are 3rd party information sources that report their information to specific mortgage companies and that I have to contact the credit bureaus to remove this type of information. So then I called the bureaus and they said that I have to contact the invidual inquirers which I have already done.

Can anyone help me?

You can attempt to call the cra's again and tell them they were unauthorized. Some people have had luck calling back several times until they get a person that is willing to remove &/or invesitgate. Unfortunately, when you signed paperwork with the broker you probably gave them permission to submit it to others therefore authorizing the inq's.

You might also try contacting the broker and seeing if he/she can help you out.

You may want to take a look at the paperwork you signed with the broker. Make sure that it is put in writing that it was ok for them to submit to other.. just in case. If not, you have some serious violations on your hands. Cover all your bases. :) Good luck!
