bankruptcy and publishing in newspaper

I've seen BK's published, but it was a "notice to creditors" initiated by the person filing.

They are "public record", but I would imagine a newspaper has more important stories to cover than assigning an employee to do nothing but print peoples' financial affairs. :?

Yeh, weddings are usually called in by the families... well... maybe divorces too in some cases... it would be in very poor taste for a newspaper to just print divorces simply because they're public record.

The 2 notices to creditors I read in the CDAPress are regarding deceased individuals.

sort of off topic, but I think they do list divorces. They just have a list of the address and the folks getting divorced. Its strange and something I wouldn't want public but its there nonetheless.

As far as BK, my lawyer told me that publishing them is a hod over of the days of public shame following a BK. Few newspapers stil pblish them. The good news is they are always buried in the barely ever read public notice section.

Hmmmm, I get the press every day and the public notices are on the 2nd page of the local section. It includes BK, divorces marriages, crime report, warrants, etc.

None of it is buried.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen a BK for a couple weeks now.
