babynurse31
I am new to cleaning up my credit and need advice as to my next step. I DV'd an old paid medical collection account. I receive the following response back from the CA:The account number you referenced in you letter is for services provided at **Hospital for medical services to John Doe on May 15, 1999. This account was placed for collection in the amount of $70. The account was paid on May 15, 2001. As a results, we are no longer involved in any collection efforts. However, in order to respond to your request, we have asked our client to provide you with an itemized statement for those charges. You should receive this information directly from their office. So what do I do now? Can they still report to the credit bureau if they are no longer involved with this account? Any ideas to my next step would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! edubb007
Don't respond, save your money and keep this letter as proff they received your DV letter. Worse case senerio, come up with $35, call the OC and offer to settle for deletion. 1/2 should do with the account being so old.
babynurse31
Well, the account was paid several years ago, so a pay for delete won't work. I was just hoping they wouldn't validate and I could go back to the CB and get it deleted. Is that still an option since they didn't actually validate but put it back off on the OC? J_Snow
Was the CA reporting it? If the CA was reporting it then they better go update it as GONE or they are in violation. Plain and Simple. You can dispute it with CRA and see if its removed that way.If its being reported by the OC and it is not being reported correctly (such as showing a balance) then they are in violation. You can send them an ITS for $1000 for the violation and that you will do so unless they remove it.
J_Snow
And just for the record-They did not validate it. Thats not validation.
babynurse31
CA is reporting it as a paid collection. I just want it off completely! I did dispute with the CB, so maybe they won't verify and it will come off. I can only hope!
miracle
Jay is right, that is not proper validation. Take a look here to see what is warrented at proper validationhttp://debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24124It is very possible that it will be removed in your dispute. *crosses my fingers for babynurse* Good Luck! -Jenn
