coolcreditchick
I am in Texas as well and about to start my DV letters for the first time. I have 1 old PdC with Attention and a newer collection with West. What measures should I take to get some results?
Paladin_Roden
Attention LLC changed there name to West Asset Managment. I have been dealing with these clowns for the last two months about medical collections on my credit reports. They change them from unpaid, to paid, and back to unpaid and paid again. I DV'd these guys and of course they never replied like the above poster. They verified with all three CRA's I just need to file in small claims now. Question to other poster. Can you sue them in your county even though they are located in Sherman? Did you sue in small claims or ferderal court?Anyway, you are dealing with some hardballers, or least from my own experince. They cuss you out on the phone, call you names and are very rude and never answer one question you ask them. If you ask for account numbers they won't give them to you, but they will take a credit card number to pay for account numbers they won't give you that are listed under your SS#. First Step send DV CCRR.Second Step Dispute with all CRA's or the ones they are listed on.Step Three wait 30 days from the date on the RRIf they verified with all three CRA's sue themI am 99% sure they will not respond to your DV, I have DV'd them twice with no response and gave them a ITS letter with no response. I also sent letters to the CRA's about them not valadating the debt to me, and the CRA's won't respond to my letters either about this account. Talk about run around. I think they only thing that will get them to listen to anyone is with a service to appear in court because you are sueing them. Maybe then they will comply with the law. Good luck, you will need it. All the DV's, ITS's, CRA disputes in the world will not budge these guys. But once you have taken all these steps and got them on all these FCRA violations, you might have to sue them for to take you seriously and do what is right. Josh Mcgrath
Palidin, you sue "in the county the offense occured in". Does not matter what county or state they are based. Are you in Texas??? What state if not? I couldn't even call them thanks to a stupid a$$ longdistance block on my home line. I wish I could call them so I could record them cuss abusing me and such so I can sue them for more! If you are in Texas, the Texas FDCPA allows you more than the 1k like Federal FDCPA. My case, which is exactly like yours, is worth anywhere from 3-5k PLUS LAWYER FEES! I have a very strong clear cut case such as you. (Thank god I was able to send CMRRR!!!) If you need a Texas lawyer, PM me.

Paladin_Roden
I'm guessing thats why the changed there name from Attention LLC, to West Asset Management. Very tuff to deal with. I filed a complaint with the FTC, and the State Attorney General of Texas on Friday. Not sure if that will work. I just might have to sue these guys.I live in San Antonio Texas, and I'm fighting with them over two medical bills that are both $174. I even sent them a reciept that my insurance paid, and gave them a letter by Southwest Methodist Hospital showing that the account was paid almost three years ago. The account is owned by Southwest Methodist Hospital, West Asset Management (aka Attention LLC) just doesn't care or they are to lazy after hospital who owns account has sent them info over and over again to close collections. I also have Credit Reports where it shows "paid" and newer credit reports that show they changed the account to "unpaid". They also just recently reaged the account, so they are racking up the violations. There are a few cases against Attention LLC on some of the court databases dealing with the same violations. I will try to provide some links later. These guys are the worst I have dealt with so far in my journey to fix incorrect information on my credit report. Keep us posted about your dealings with them, and I will let you know about mine as well.
Josh Mcgrath
www.deanmalone.comjust sue them now. Youll get their money...plus they have to delete! They handle any case in Texas. I am very pleased with them so far! michael O-conner is my attorney at the firm.

Lorraine Williams
My only experience has been an endless series of pre-recorded calls to my business that say “you must call 800-694-1527” and indicates that they are a collection agency. I get no less than 2 calls per week from them.No one in my organization has any relationship with West Asset Management so over the past few months I have called repeatedly and they say they must have a wrong number (no kidding!). Since they can not locate my number in their system they say there is no way to have a number removed. At one point I asked to speak to a manager and was referred to Michael Knapp at 800-933-5770 ext 3179. I did not get an answer so I left a voice mail message. I received no return call. When I called again today after yet another pre-recorded call and useless song and dance with their call center, Michael Knapp's number is no good. Conclusion: West Asset Management obviously has operational problems. Neither of the numbers I have are listed anywhere on their website. I found them listed as an agency to avoid at http://www.budhibbs.com/coll_to_avoid_list.htm.When I was a collector in a high volume, automated, call center environment as I surmise West Asset Management is, there was always a way to find erroneous listings and purge them from the system. They waste time and therefore cost money. But West Asset Management claims to have no such mechanism in place. At this point I have no idea how to get them to stop calling my company other than to keep filing complaints with the FTC and FCC.
Been_Ponzied
What an extra flakey Collection Agency! How can those people sleep at night? I am making complaints for obscenities/verbal abuse violations from GC Services in Houston (they collect for American Express). The FTC won't do anything until a whole lot of people call in to complain against them.P.S. Thanks for the interesting link! I had to remove the period at the end of it to get it to come up, though
KSJefferies
Im alittle lost. I have been reading this site for a couple weeks now. I have gotten my CR's, written my DV's and am now at a little loss what to do. If they do not validate your debt in 30 days doesnt the law say the TL has to be removed? Also, I have West on my CR as well. I was about to send them a DV. Some people say to challenge with the CRA BEFORE sending the CA the DC's, others say the same time. Which is the better way to go? Im sorry for all the questions. Im alittle confused with all of this.
sharpshooter73
I also have these 2 clowns on my CRs. The bad thing is, the medical bill is substantial ($6000), and it's still inside of SOL (I think!). I haven't heard anything from either of them in over a year. I think I'm going to let this dragon continue to sleep.BTW- Does anyone know what a medical/hospital bill falls under in the state of Florida for SOL purposes? I have YET to find out what the SOL is, let alone how to classify it. (Written contract, UCC goods/services)

lindsay135
I just found this thread.. I posted something else in the credit repair forum.... sorry.Anyways, I got 2 credit reports from TU back to back with Attention LLC and then the next one listed as West Asset MGMT. same account number same amount of money everything. They will fall off early next year. Hopefully they wont try to reage the account. What can I do if they try that little number?
MissTcal
The question is: Has anyone been successful? I'm receiving calls at home and at work (pre-recorded). The medical collections that they alledge have all been paid to the medical facilities by the insurance carrier. I've provided proof to no avail. They have re-aged one account also. There has got to be something that can be done in this situation. I filed a complaint with FTC and received a canned response. If anyone has been successful, please let me know. Thanks! sevastras
I dealt with WAM for 4-5 months. After I sent a DV, making perfectly clear that I let them know I could not have calls at work, I started writing down everytime they called me at work. I kindly reminded them that I could not have calls at work, and they said it was their right to call me at work. Finally a higher up of sort got on the phone after I kindly reminded the person who called me that they could not call me at work. This higher up of some sort was a real B*#ch! That is when I sent them a 5 page ITS and never received anything back from them. The calls stopped, and when I disputed the things on my credit reports they dropped off right away. Keep in mind that I probably disputed these 2 or 3 times prior to no avail.
MissTcal
Thanks! After I disputed with CRA, they came back to say debt was verified. WAM sent letter with debt "listed" saying that they verified with CRA. The letter shows that debt is outside of SOL. I called OC and asked to see what info they had on debt (medical) because I did not recall owing the debt. My insurance carrier usually paid 100 percent. They said that they did not keep records prior to 2002 and would send me a note explaining that they only had a computer annotation, but no files with consent forms or any other information. I am waiting for the note and have not responded to WAM. Once I get the note from the OC what steps should I take to have this collection removed? gt95stang302
They are trying to come after me for some extra charges on a lease car for mileage that adds up to $6k from GMAC.They never cussed me out, nothing of that sort. When they called I asked what it was in reference to, then I asked for their address which freaked them out, guy didnt know what to say and sent me to his "supervisor"."Supervisor" gave me the address, and they havent called again.I almost sent them a DV, but the account is only two years old. Figured Id get myself another lawsuit if I did that.
