Wilson56
I broke a lease about 2 years ago and owe $3867 and is in collections. I have been getting letters and i havent done anything on them. But I got a letter for a settlement of 50% and want to pay it. From what i read I should ask for a delete, from your exprience do you think they would do that for 50% off? If they will not delete should I atleast have them put paid in full? And if not will it help my credit if it shows I settled for less? If they will only put settled for less should I just leave it alone if it wont make a difference? My fico scores were 678, 688, 688. Not the worst but I would like to get better. I have 4 collections and this is by far the worse. The other 3 add up to $700 together and i sent settle for delete letters to them, thanks to this site, but i just did that the other day. Thanks for your help and time
Valkyrine
It can't hurt to try to make that a part of the deal, especially since they are approaching you with the 50% offer. I am finding the sample letter on the main site helpful. Since its already a collection, deletion would be best. I have learned here that a "paid collection" is really not much better than an "unpaid collection."I hope this helps. Good luck.
