But I did for the state that the company is located and I searched every possible way and they are not licensed in there state, which is Texas. It is CPA, Credit Protection Association. tiffanyb1120
Unfortunantly, they are on that list ( have business license, are bonded, all that stuff). And they have sent me back debt validation(acct.#, reference #, balance, date submitted, pertaining to, and rented on). It was for late fees on a rented movie. I really hate to pay something as stupid as that but if I have to I will.Any Suggestions?
retmar
CPA in Dallas is not the easiest to deal with. Even when advised and shown violations, they do not respond. They are idiots who will lie for any reason. Don't trust them for any reason. CYA at all times. As to the item they are attempting to collect, is it still in the SOL? If so, contact the OC by mail and offer them a fair settlement. What you would say is that you refuse to deal with their assignee in any fashion as you have found through research and the BBB that they are not the most professional to deal with. In short, you do not trust them. Also, say that in some states the OC is liable for the actions of their assignee, and, you do not want to chance their violating your rights which would cause them, the OC, to become involved in any litigation. This should get you a response of some sort. Just address it to the owner, not the manager. If it is past the SOL, then send CPA a full C&D. Also send a copy to the OC, along with another letter stating that due to the actions of CPA, this claim cannot be pursued in a court of law. Therefore, if they desire payment, they must recall from CPA, assure any negative is deleted at the CRA's, and will accept $.20 on the Dollar. No counter offers will be accepted.
