Help with TU

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's the deal. On 11/25/04 I disputed (On Line) about 25 TL's with TU. After no response from them within 35 days, I sent an ITS letter demanding deletion of all disputed TL's because they did not complete investigation within 30 days. Well on 01/14/2005 I get a complete report from TU and apparantly they have verified most of the disputes. The report says "Report prepared on 01/07/2005". As proof that I disputed on 11/25/2004, I have the confirmation e-mail from TU dated 11/25/04 stating that an investigation has started and will be completed within 30 days. Has anyone been in similar situation. Is there a number at TU and someone specifically that one could talk to to take care of a problem like this. Will I have to sue them? If I do, they have violated Texas Law as well FCRA. Since it was 25 TL's would this be 25 violations? Would an attorney take this case on contingent basis. Any help is appreciated. :(

The CRA has 30 days + 5 days mail time to investigate a dispute. (If the report was pulled off of annualcreditreport.com they have 45+5 Days mail time.)

If at anytime during those 30 days, you dispute something else or send them anything else, it extends their investigation time by 15 more days.

If, in your original letter you dispute 4 TL's they have 30 days to investigate, but if 5 days later you send a letter disputing something else or you send more documentation in that adds 15 days onto their time limit. Hope that clarifies. Good Luck! -Jenn

Slight correction: You have to send them some information relating to the investigation for them to claim an extra 15 days. Disputing a different item doesn't count as it is its own investigation.

The rule of thumb is send in your stuff and leave it alone for 30 days...don't call asking for status. They will use any excuse they can to get those extra 15 days. Of course, if you find some evidence supporting your claim, then it would be worth it to send it in and give them the extra 15 days...since the evidence works in your favor.

Methuss,

I find your posts informative and helpful, you are one of the posters who almost always makes good sense, I.M.H.O. and Miracle is a sweetie :) there are quite a few very sharp minded people on these forums  I think that is the main reason I picked and engaged in these forums.

As far as issues with TU, I shouldn't comment due to the fact that I have a very low bias / skewed opinion of them for their illegal insertion of a public record onto my report with them because it was accidentally disputed with them (online) when they had absolutely no knowledge or possession of it. Thats Trans for ya :-)=
