Husker
I was looking at my 3 in 1 credit report from Privacy Guard this past week and was surprised to learn that on 1 credit report I had a collections for a NSF check that I thought was taken care. I still had the orginal notice from Trac-A-Chec, Inc. so, I looked through my bank statement from that time frame (6/03) and found that they tried to do an EFT of the NSF check and the service fee. It looks like from my bank statement that the EFT on the check didn’t go through, but I have a copy of their service fee going through (5/19/03).I received a statement from them dated 6/6/03 requesting payment. The total amount due was for both the NSF check and the service fee (which they had already received 5/19). I didn’t pursue it any farther since I thought the matter had been taken care of.I got a copy of my actual Equifax credit report, which gave me more detail about the credit report listing. According to the CR the date reported was 8/04 and the balance was for the NSF check and their service fee.Any suggestions on how to handle this to get it off of my credit report? I was considering sending them a pay to delete offer for the amount of the NSF check ($24) with a copy of the of their EFT showing they had already received their service fee. I am more than willing to take care of the NSF, I just want it off my credit report. Is there any violations on their part for reporting inaccurate or false information on a CR? This is just in case they do not accept my pay to delete offer.Husker
LadyButler
DV the CA... and as soon as you get the green card back (the slip saying that the CA signed for the letter), dispute as paid with the CRA. The full procedure is listed here: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation_workflow.shtmlThere are letter samples to use here:http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/Most importantly- document, document, document! The only way you can really screw things up yourself is by failing to keep a copy of every correspondence and transaction... and for the love of Pete don't rely on anything promised on the phone until you get it in writing!
