mom23
Is there anything you can do when an account is listed more than once on you CR?There is a CC that is listed on my husbands CR. it is listed by the OC once and then by a CA twice. The CA listings have the same acount number and everything else is the same also except for the date of last activity and the date opened. On one it has 10/01 has the date of last activity and does not have a date opened and the other has 12/04 as date of last activity and 01/03 as the date opened. The account was actually opened with the OC 12/97 and there has been no activity on the account in at least 5-6 years.thanks for any help ( I am in Texas if that helps)
retmar
You say that the OC still has their listing on the CR. If this is true, the TL should have the actual DOLA of the account. This is what you will use. Remember, the OC TL can remain up to 7 years.Once you have the original DOLA, you will send a letter to the CA that clearly points out that they are in violation as they are reporting an incorrect DOLA. The DOLA must always remain the same as the one from the OC. By what you say, I am positive this is a JDB. Therefore, they are legal if they report an open date later than the DOLA as the two are totally different items. Their open date refers to when they purchased the debt. Your letter would tell them of the violation and that they have 10 days from receipt of your letter to close, delete, and go away or you will sue them. Also, check the OC TL and make sure it has the following: A Zero Balance and the notation that the account was sold or transferred. Your EQ report will show the DOLA as Date of First Delinquency. kissinger99
I had many things on my report that were being listed twice. After sending a letter, all of mine were taken off. Sometimes the easiest route works best. (although not usually when dealing with the CRA's!)
debcakes
Well, I found something interesting on mine. I have a listing showing twice on Equifax...with two different CA...OSI Portfolio and Palisades Collections. Both state the same exact information: Account number, Open Account, N/A Open Date, $130.00 balance, $130 high limit, $130 past due, Collection Account, "At least 120 days or more than four payments past due"...EXACT same information listed twice under 2 different Collection Agecies. The OC is not listed at all. Can 2 different Collection Agencies have Open Accounts for the same account?
debcakes
I'm bumping this because I hope someone can tell me if 2 collection agencies can report the same exact debt as open with balances (see my post above). Thanks...
