They agreed my suit had merit and that they could have "handled things differently". They agreed to a small cash settlement, cessation of collection activity and deletion of all TLs from my CR in exchange for dismissal with prejudice. We were due in court in just 3 days. My year-long fight with them is over. divemedic 51 Posted February 24, 2005 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2005 In my continuing saga with Verizon, 10 days after obtaining a settlement in my case against Verizon, deletion has still not occured and I still have seen nothing from them. No check, no deletion request. Nothing. I called EQ because I had filed a dispute on 2/12 and they said the furnisher verified the same day as I signed the settlement. Phone messages to the Verizon rep are not returned.Under the terms of the agreement I have to notify them in writing of the problem. They have 10 days to fix it, then I am free to refile.The problem is, I filed the dismissal with prejudice. So I guess I will have to go to the Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and perhaps breach of contract. I wonder if I can hire a CA to collect the settlement check.
