I really need seasoned people to help out on this...

Recommended Posts

I've always had trouble with Credit Bureaus... Every year, I have to have at least 5 things removed... NO JOKE.. in fact I have had as many as 13 things in 1 year...

So.. anyway as of now I have no bad marks on my credit at all. I checked today and the last collection was removed. Here is my "Stats"

1- Two open loans. One has 6 months left on it. The other about 18.

2- I have 1 Visa card. Small limit and it's about 50% full.

3- Just applied for and was approved for a Target Guest card. Not used.

4- several loans paid off dating back 7 years.

Now What I want is a major credit card with a high credit limit. So what company should I try for.

Thanks Guys.

Until you are above the 700 level you are operating in sub-prime territory. It is highly unlikely you will get a card with a high limit. Work on your credit untl you're in the 700 club and then you have many more options.

-or-

Start now with Household Bank. They shoud approve you for 500-1000 limit. Periodically they increase your limit.

-or-

Apply for a CLI with your current card.

That's my experienc, others may say different

I think you will need to get your scores to accurately determine what you have the best chance of getting approved for with 1 INQ. Knowing which is your strongest report will determine who to apply w/ and getting a Prime card. I had a 660+ and applied with my TU CR only and sought out several creditors in my state that pulled TU solely. I eneded up with a Citi card at 0% for 18 months and then 7.49 after. Let that age a bit and your TL's age a little. Pay down ANY revolving debt and payof your one Installment loan and your scores will jump within 90-120 days....

How do you find out who pulls which CR?

You certainly do not need to be above 700 to get high limits and good offers from prime lenders. I started getting good offers once I got above 650 or so. However, getting your first high limit is the key. If you have good credit and are above 650 I would go for an MBNA card. They are the best when it comes to high limits and plentiful credit increases. Alot of folks feel 700 is the number to beat, but for me it was 650-660. However, I feel the key to large CL's is getting the first. Then they all try to follow.
