SkyBlue
Hello's all.Iam in the process of repairing my credit and i have a couple of questions.I took some classes at a college (Private Computer college) 6yrs. ago. I never finished paying off the course and it was assigned to a CA. Is this type of debt considered written, oral, or promissory? Iam trying to calculate whether the SOL has reached on this account. I'm in Missouri. Many thanks.Sky.
Tourniquet416
i'm pretty sure student loans are written, and regardless of the SOL, they have to be paid off, because they're federal.
willingtocope
I think you're probably gonna have to find the original contract. At a private computer college it may NOT have been through the federally funded student loan program...which would give you some other options. In fact, I've seen some MSCE kind of courses paid for with a credit card.
SkyBlue
Many thanks to your replies.Yes this happened to actually be an MSCSE course. The college was not federally supported. I never got a Loan for the course. I simply took the course & was supposed to pay after completion. I never did and they took my account to collections. So what would the SOL be on such a case?thanks.Sky.
willingtocope
Well, again, I'd suggest you dig out the paperwork, but IMHO its certainly not "oral" so according to the menu item at the top "Statue of Limitations"http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtmlyou're looking at 10 years, I think...
