Removing charge offs

DOLA isnt what you want to know. Date of 1st delinquency is what matters (DOFD). Most of the time those are NOT on the reports and you have to call to find out. TU does show a date they are due to fall off though, so go back 7 years and approx. 180 days to get the rough DOFD.

I am dealing with the same issue with AMex..if the SOL has expired does it prevent them from collecting?

The SOL doesnt not prevent them from trying to collect, it assures you that they cannot sue you for the debt (although this has happened to some people).

They will try to collect for as long as they can, unbeknown to them, you KNOW the law!

If this is a CA trying to collect, DV them!!

SOL is collection and reporting are different. Technically, collection SOL is based on your states laws. Refer to your states laws. For example, in VA its 3 years from date of last purchase or payment. They can't sue you so any further collection can be ignored or killed with a cease and desist letter. Reporting SOL is 7 years from date of 1st delinquency that led to charge-off, usually plus 180 days. At that point, all tradelines related to the alleged debt must be removed.

DV CMRRR to start your paper trail. Wait for them to violate.

They can always call you or send you letters (unless you DVed in a timely manner) even after SOL for collection and reporting are up. If you are outside of collection SOL, send a cease and desist letter telling them to never contact you again, in any manner.

A chargeoff doesnt change anything, its the state SOL that matters.
