DocDon
Why? The CSR's aren't authorized to do what you want anyway. The response you received came out of an FAQ flipchart.I agree - stay with the executive level on this.
miracle
Agreed. If you go to the higher ups, they will hand it to someone and say "take care of it" most of the time. They don't want to deal with it. Let us know how it goes! Good Luck! -Jenn
CreditSuperstar
Doc & Jen,Thx-I really didn't expect much out of the CSR- However, I thought perhaps they might bring it to their supervisor who (once they see I am going to the executive level) might want to take care of it.Do you guys (& gals) think the content was okay? I am also going to post the email I sent to the executive for your opinion, if you don't mind. Also, someday MAYBE I'll be able to help you guys & return the favor!FCSDear Mr. Floyd,My name is James xxxxxxxx and I'd like to thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to read this letter. I am hopeful you are the proper person I should be writing to. If you are not, could you please forward my correspondence to the proper person and advise me of this? I have been an AmeriCredit customer since May of 2001. I am not sending you a generic "goodwill" letter, but rather I'd like to let you know that your customers are real people with real life ups and downs.During the time I have been an AmeriCredit customer, I have personally gone through a divorce in 2001, lost a job as a result of the September 11th disaster and also lost my father in October of 2002. Finally, I have been helping support my oldest sister who has been diagnosed with Lupus. I say this not to justify why my account became late, but rather to show that this is not a good indicator of my actual credit worthiness. Even when I have had past problems, Americredit's customer service people have ALWAYS treated me with respect. That fact has not been lost upon me. Those have been the downs. As far as the ups, I have since started my own business, gotten remarried and started a family. As a result of starting my business, I have gone through some growing pains financially, but now am fully capable and willing to honor my debts and make timely payments to all of my creditors. If you will notice, my most recent payments to AmeriCredit have been right on time and will continue to be. At present, my wife Adriana is expecting our first child in October. We are very anxious to purchase both a vehicle and our first home this year. As I stated at the beginning of this letter, this is not a cookie-cutter letter designed as a means to an end. However, I would like to know if you would be willing to make an adjustment in your reporting to the three major credit bureaus and remove any negative marks from my credit reports. In closing, I am aware how competitive today’s auto loan industry is. Every week I am solicited by numerous financing companies. I also know how important it is to maintain good relationships with customers. Americredit has been exceptional in my book, and I highly recommend it to all my friends and relatives. In fact my other sister currently has a loan though Americredit as well. When I seek a new auto loan, which I will be in need of shortly, I will be requesting that the dealer put my loan through Americredit. I want to stick with the company in the good times that worked with me in the down times. Mr. Floyd, my wife and I truly hope that you will deeply consider our request and prove once again, why Americredit is miles ahead of the competition. I look forward to your reply.Best Regards and all sincerity,James xxxxxxxx
CreditSuperstar
Also guys,In your opinions, have you seen these goodwill efforts pay off? I have seen my Fico score raised 9 pts today on Eq and I am sure this would really bump me again if I get it. FCS
DocDon
I've had a few go smoothly, and a couple that took longer. Cap1 was the worst, but it finally happened (almost 6 months). But yes, it was worth it.
miracle
Goodwill letters are certainly worth it! Your letter looked very good BTW!It may take a couple rounds of the goodwills to work, but persistance usually pays off. Planetfeedback.com is a good place to go as well. score booster
I do wish you luck on this, however, being a sub-prime lender Americredit really has no vested interest in making you look good to other lenders. They probably love to ding people so they can scoop you right back up on your next auto purchase. Incidentally, I've had a loan with them since 2001. CR's are clean with them, however I think I did go 30 days after the second month of the note! They never sent a statement that month, and I was so busy I totally forgot. Fortunately it never hit the reports. Well maybe it was only 28 or 29 days I'm not positive now. Good luck though.

CreditSuperstar
AmeriCredit update-Mark Floyd, Chief Operating Officer of Servicing emailed me this morning: I did receive your letter last week and asked for the history on your account so I could respond appropriately. I received the history on Thursday, but was traveling when it arrived on my desk. I'll try to get back to you later today or tomorrow.Mark FloydNot a yes...but not a no either! Just paid my next payment online, cut and pasted it to him, invoked some sentiments about family and loss and told him I am hoping AmeriCredit shows again why they are #1.Now- If I coud only make a deal with Verizon....FCS
