HOW LEGAL IS IT FOR AAC TO REQUEST MORE THAN %50 OVER WHAT THE ORIGINAL DEBT WAS FOR? ISNT IT ILLEGAL FOR THE OC TO SELL AN ACCOUNT WITH OTL FEES AND LF ATTACHED AS THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL DEBT. I CURRENTLY HAVE AAC TRYING TO COLLECT TWO ACCOUNTS FROM OHIO AND MICHIGAN (ACTUALLY WAS AWARDED JUDGEMENT ON ONE) COULD I ATTEMPT TO VACATE THE JUDGEMENT ON THE BASIS THAT THE ORIGINAL ACCOUNT WAS NEVER THE AMOUNT THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO COLLECT? THE CREDIT LIMITS ON THESE ACCOUNTS WERE $500 AND $600-(CHARGED OFF IN 97). NOW THE AMT REQUESTED BY AAC ARE OVER &$ 1500 FOR ONE AND ALMOST $3000 ON THE OTHER. I HAVE DISPUTED THEM ON ALL MY CREDIT REPORTS AND THEY HAVE BEEN REMOVED.

THIS IS MY FIRST POST SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.

First, don't type in all caps...it looks like you're shouting....not critizing, just FYI...

Second, read the menu item at the top on "Vacating Judgements". There may be something you can do to make the judgement go away. Also, depending on which state you live in now, and where the debt was actually incurred, one or both of these may be beyond the SOL...which means you would have an absolute defense against another judgement. That doesn't mean they'll stop trying to collect...it only means they can't sue you for the money.
